Zebra TC73 / TC78

Zebra TC73 and TC78 are ultra-rugged Android mobile computers in a smartphone form factor with a 6-inch display, successors to the TC70/TC72 and TC77. They are built for production halls, warehouses and field work, where the device is dropped on concrete and works in dust, moisture and temperatures down to −20°C. TC73 connects over Wi-Fi and works indoors, while TC78 adds 5G, nano SIM and eSIM slots and GPS for outdoor work.

Key features

• 2.4 m drops to concrete across the full operating temperature range, 3.05 m at room temperature: plus 2000 tumbles from 1 m and IP65 and IP68 sealing. The device survives a drop from a forklift, dusty environments and washing.
• SE55 scan engine with IntelliFocus up to 12.2 m or SE4770 up to about 60 cm: the SE55 reads barcodes in hand and on high racks, the SE4770 is enough for close-range scanning. The device has two side scan buttons.
• 6-inch Full HD+ display, 28% larger than on the predecessors: more app data without scrolling, while the grip is nearly 20% thinner.
• Qualcomm 6490 (octa-core, 2.7 GHz), 4 GB / 64 GB or 8 GB / 128 GB, upgradeable to Android 16: performance for years of work with demanding apps.
• 4400 mAh or 6600 mAh battery: the extended battery covers long shifts. Premium TC78 models support hot swap without switching off, other models swap the battery after a short sleep (warm swap).
• 16 MP autofocus rear camera and 8 MP front camera: document damage and non-conformities with photos and make video calls from the same device.
• Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB-C and an extra USB host port on the back: fast shop-floor networking, accessory pairing and the option to connect peripherals.
• Long lifecycle: according to the manufacturer, 5 years of product availability and 10 years of service support, which makes fleet planning and expansion easier.

How to choose a variant

• TC73 or TC78. TC73 is enough when the device stays within the company Wi-Fi network. Choose TC78 for yards, field work and routes: it has 5G, two SIMs (nano SIM and eSIM) and GPS.
• Memory. 4 GB / 64 GB is enough for a single production or warehouse app. 8 GB / 128 GB gives headroom for several apps at once and future OS versions.
• Scan engine. SE55 for scanning at a distance and on high racks, SE4770 for close-range scanning at a workstation.
• Battery. Standard 4400 mAh, extended 6600 mAh for longer shifts, or 4400 mAh with a BLE beacon for locating lost devices. For the TC78 there is also a wireless charging battery.
• Battery swap during work. If the device must run non-stop around the clock, choose a premium TC78 model with hot swap.
