PWA, the best technology for your enterprise.

Nowadays it is possible to access the Internet practically anywhere - at home, in the office, in a cafe, in a shopping mall, on the shop floor or in a warehouse.
Virtually all of us carry a smartphone with us, which provides us with constant access to the web and the applications seen on the home screen, usually downloaded from a special store.
But did you know that there are applications in the form of websites that you don't have to install and update?

What exactly is PWA technology?

PWA is an acronym that expands to stand for Progressive Web App, which means progressive web application in Polish. It's a technology that involves designing systems and programs that act like a website, which can be accessed on any networked device. It is opened in the browser and does not require downloading from stores such as the App Store. It is similar to standard mobile apps in that you can save its icon as a shortcut on your device's screen, giving you instant access to it, with just one click. PWA is built on top of technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or WebAssembly. An example of this is our website, HDF Software, which you can quickly and easily save on your desktop, or the display of your phone, data controller, or tablet.

What does the term framework mean?

The term framework refers to the output structure of an application, i.e. a kind of foundation on which other versions of it are built, as a result of extending its functions. We can distinguish a framework for web applications, which is designed to provide ready-made solutions (such as libraries or scripts) that form the basis for building a web system.

Advantages of using Progressive Web App in your enterprise:

It is portable - Web apps can be used on any device connected to the Internet. These can be desktop devices, such as a computer or desktop kiosk, or mobile devices: laptop, phone, tablet or data collector. With this feature, you can transfer the application to another device at any time, as you just need to log in to it through your browser.

Doesn't take up a lot of memory - PWA systems and applications do not overload devices, as they are not installed directly on the device they are opened on. Our MES system developed with PWA technology, for example, is installed on our high-capacity servers, and to use it, all you have to do is log in to it via a website on the device of your choice.

Does not require installation from a store - Unlike standard mobile applications, PWA does not manifest the need to download from an app store (such as the App Store, or Google Play Store).

Direct and easy installation from the browser to your Desktop - You can download the web software in seconds from your browser. All you have to do is go into it, enter the URL of the website, and then add it to your device's home screen, saving yourself direct access to the application.

Receive notifications - In addition to being able to store it on your desktop, you also have the option of receiving real-time notifications, keeping you constantly up to date with everything that's going on in your business.

You're up to date - Because you have access to the app online, the data in it is updated all the time, allowing you to avoid costly mistakes, such as selling more items than are actually in stock (because some of them may have been sold moments earlier, but the offline app may not have recorded this activity).

Extremely fast performance - Since PWA systems don't take up much memory, they can transfer information much faster, providing much lower data usage than mobile apps or standard websites.

Automatic updates - Our online custom software features updates done in the background by our specialists, not by the user, so you don't have to remember about them and carry them out by yourself like in the case of mobile apps.

Great performance regardless of the system - Software created in the form of websites can be saved on any operating system, not just iOS or Android - so you can easily save them on a Windows or Linux computer.

Increased savings - One of the biggest advantages of implementing online software in your business is reduced expenses, as you can save a lot on the need to maintain your server and advanced devices with a sizable memory footprint that standard software requires. The development of a web application itself is much less expensive than its mobile version.

Offline display capability - Devices with PWAs can take advantage of session storage, or cache, which allows them to collect information locally into a database and allows them to display the basic interface of the site offline.

Convenience - Websites in the form of applications provide convenience in their use, including the fact that even with a poor network connection, they load very quickly and have an intuitive and eye-pleasing interface.

Where can application development technology be used in the form of websites?

PWA technology actually works well in all sectors of the economy that use software to automate and speed up work in a company. You'll find PWA applications in the retail sector, online stores, the travel industry, catering, or even in marketing. It is also reliable in the manufacturing, logistics, warehouse and office sectors. As a software delivery company, we have been trying to keep up with trends for years, so we use this technology ourselves and apply it to system design to provide our customers with the most convenient way to work.

Our web applications tailored to your needs.

Currently, all HDF Software's custom systems are created using PWA technology. We offer the following web applications: a manufacturing MES system, a WMS warehouse system, a CRM business management system, a quality management system, a truck loading system, or any other system that suits your individual needs. All of these programs are available online and to use them, all you have to do is type the URL of the website into your browser or select the icon of the application in question. Even now, while reading this article, you can see for yourself how it works in practice and download the HDF website as an application (After selecting Share, click Add to Start Screen).

The authorization and privilege management system is also an example of one of our web programs. It is designed to provide security for your business, and for you to reduce the costs that can result from having to buy multiple separate authorization programs. It will give you the ability to grant or remove your employee's authorizations in just seconds, all from a web application. For more on the microservices authorization management system, see our previous news.
